Pathways and OLLI: Sharing Our Expertise With the Community

Recently, Pathways President Evan Hyatt attended a preview event for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Colorado State University. The event gave OLLI members an opportunity to meet instructors, learn about upcoming courses and discover new opportunities for lifelong learning.

For Evan, it was also the beginning of an exciting opportunity for Pathways.

Evan has been selected to teach an OLLI course, “Exploring Pathways Hospice, Palliative and Bereavement Care,” on September 29. The course will take place at the Pathways main office and will introduce participants to hospice care, the hospice benefit and the services Pathways provides to patients and families.

Bringing Our Expertise Into the Community

At Pathways, education is an important part of how we serve our community.

Hospice and palliative care can be unfamiliar topics until a person or family suddenly finds themselves needing them. Providing opportunities to learn about these services ahead of time can help people feel more informed and prepared when difficult decisions arise.

Evan’s OLLI course is one way Pathways can help make those conversations more accessible.

Holding the course at the Pathways office also gives participants an opportunity to become familiar with the organization and the people who provide care to patients and families every day.

Building Connections Through Education

The OLLI preview event was a great example of the connections that can happen when community organizations come together around learning. Evan had the opportunity to meet fellow instructors and connect with OLLI members who are interested in expanding their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.

We’re proud that Pathways can contribute to that environment by sharing the expertise our team has developed through years of serving patients and families.

Being selected to teach this course is a reflection of Evan’s experience and knowledge, but it’s also a reflection of the depth of expertise within Pathways. Every day, our team members help patients and families navigate some of life’s most important moments. Sharing what we’ve learned is another way we can extend that impact into the broader community.

We’re grateful to OLLI at CSU for the opportunity and look forward to welcoming participants to Pathways on September 29.
